Vertical transverse transport induced by hidden in-plane Berry curvature in two dimensions

چکیده

The discovery of Berry curvature (BC) has spurred a tremendous surge research into various quantum phenomena such as the anomalous transport electrons and topological phases matter. In two-dimensional crystalline systems, conventional definition BC lacks in-plane components thus it cannot explain transverse along plane-normal direction. Here, we modify to newly provide in two dimensions, giving rise vertical Hall effects that describe out-of-plane transports response perturbations their Onsager reciprocity. Our first-principles calculations show large can appear even an atomic-thick GdAg2 monolayer, hexagonal BiAg2 monolayer host dipole known vanish BC. driven by hitherto-hidden will become more significant recently emerging platforms, including van der Waals heterostructures.
